Elizabeth Ministry

Elizabeth Ministry seeks to provide support for pregnant women and those dealing with pregnancy related issues. Elizabeth ministers provide an environment of listening, service and trust to women during pregnancy and early parenting.  The “Welcoming New Babies” segment celebrates each new life in the parish by offering meals and other support.  Prayer books and welcoming letters are sent to families.  Each summer Elizabeth Ministry sponsors the annual baby blessing mass celebrating the joy of each new life with prayers and hospitality.  The “Pastoral Care” segment reaches out to those suffering from miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility, hurt from an abortion, infant health crisis, or medically difficult pregnancies.  Every fall we plan a prayer service for “Children who have gone home to God” hoping to provide comfort to those who have experienced loss.  The “Community Support” segment provides one on one support to persons with “crisis” or unplanned pregnancies.  Material and practical help is offered in addition to friendship and spiritual support.  Occasional service projects include collecting goods for Birthright, Mercy Residential Services and other pro-life agencies.  Elizabeth ministers may choose to participate in just one, two or all three facets of the ministry.  Following the example of our Blessed Mother visiting her cousin, Elizabeth, we celebrate the sacredness of all human life.
