Our Middle
School Youth Ministry program is for all 6th, 7th
and 8th graders in Public or Catholic school.
“Crossroads” is a comprehensive middle school program of faith
formation as well as social and service activities. Spiritual
development, centered around a three year cycle (The God Year, The
Jesus Year and Holy Spirit/Church Year), will include several
aspects of four major concepts of faith development for young
adolescents: Word, Worship Community and Discipleship.
Under the
leadership of several catechists the students will be engaged in
activities that will assist them in their own personal growth,
identity, and moral development. The students will be exposed to a
deeper understanding of justice and peace in our world and the
responsibility we all have as Catholic Christians to each other.
There are plans to have several presentations (including outside
speakers) on relevant topics for the student’s interaction and
discussion. The students will gather and meet twice a month, in
addition the students will be encouraged to commit to a regular
service project.
Some events
planned are a Lock-in, Haunted Hayride in the Fall, Jr. High
Retreat, Movie Night, Bowling, Diocesan Youth Rally, and an end of
the year event, to be determined. Parents are encouraged and
welcome to become involved with “Crossroads”. A team of parents
will be needed to coordinate social activities, chaperone, help with
transportation and provide snacks.
Parents are
also encouraged and welcome to help plan and lead religious
education activities. Please contact
Robin Hill if you would
like to be involved in any way.
