Seasons of Faith Grades: Preschool — Grade 5
Weekly:
Sundays  during 9 a.m. Mass
Location: Reddington Hall
Kick-off Session:
Begins  in   September

The Mass is the most important activity we do as Catholics.  The earliest Christians invented a style of religious education based on Sunday readings (the Lectionary), allowing the Word of God to form our hearts.  If we are committed to our tradition of regular Sunday Eucharist, why not celebrate Mass as a formative experience?

Seasons of Faith students come to 9:00 Mass with their families.  After the opening prayer the students are invited to the center aisle, blessed by the Presider, and then process with their catechists for each grade level to Reddington Hall.  The student’s education will be based on the Children’s Liturgy of the Word format.  There are specific learning activities planned and connected with the Readings of the day.  Students will return to their families during the Preparation of the Gifts.

Learning about who we are as Catholic Christians is not just a school year process.  God interacts with us every day.  During the summer months children will continue to meet but on a relaxed schedule and altogether in Reddington Hall.  Our summer format will still be based on the Children’s Liturgy of the Word but the children will not be in individual classrooms.  On certain Sundays Seasons of Faith will not take place (e.g. Christmas, Easter). Families will receive a schedule for the year at the first session.

Family Faith Group

Who: Family Groups
When: Monthly
Where: Determined by Group
Kick-off Session: TBA

Family Faith is designed to help parents deepen their own faith while handing faith on to their children. Families meet monthly in small groups of three to four households. Together they explore, celebrate and explain the truths of our faith in the context of a sharing, supportive community. Families choose to meet, in their homes or at St. Louis, times that are convenient for the group and include storytelling, drama, videos, crafts, prayer and faith sharing. Families are asked to facilitate the monthly sessions on a rotating basis. Materials and supplies are furnished by a St. Louis Religious Education staff person. Families also have the opportunity to extend that faith sharing in their individual families through suggested activities that extend the lessons at home. In addition there will be periodic whole group church activities that families will be invited to participate in. This program gives families the opportunity to spend quality time together, share values, learn about our Catholic faith and reach out in Christian service to others.

Families can organize their own groups or St. Louis will help to put together families with common characteristics. There will be a beginning of the year kick-off, at St. Louis, for all families, that will provide an opportunity to discuss the program and answer any questions or concerns.
